Psalm 145:10-18

New International Version

¹⁰All your works praise you,^(A) Lord;
    your faithful people extol^(B) you.^(C)
¹¹They tell of the glory of your kingdom^(D)
    and speak of your might,^(E)
¹²so that all people may know of your mighty acts^(F)
    and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.^(G)
¹³Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,^(H)
    and your dominion endures through all generations.

The Lord is trustworthy^(I) in all he promises^(J)
    and faithful in all he does.^[a]
¹⁴The Lord upholds^(K) all who fall
    and lifts up all^(L) who are bowed down.^(M)
¹⁵The eyes of all look to you,
    and you give them their food^(N) at the proper time.
¹⁶You open your hand
    and satisfy the desires^(O) of every living thing.

¹⁷The Lord is righteous^(P) in all his ways
and faithful in all he does.^(Q)
¹⁸The Lord is near^(R) to all who call on him,^(S)
to all who call on him in truth.

The Call of Elisha

¹⁹So Elijah went from there and found Elisha son of Shaphat. He was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen, and he himself was driving the twelfth pair. Elijah went up to him and threw his cloak^(A) around him. ²⁰Elisha then left his oxen and ran after Elijah. “Let me kiss my father and mother goodbye,”^(B) he said, “and then I will come with you.”

“Go back,” Elijah replied. “What have I done to you?”

²¹So Elisha left him and went back. He took his yoke of oxen^(C) and slaughtered them. He burned the plowing equipment to cook the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he set out to follow Elijah and became his servant.^(D)

Colossians 1:9-14
